Club History
Henry Cort Junior Badminton Club was formed in 1980 by Ken Manchip and began operating from what was at that time the new hall at Henry Cort Community School. Initially starting on just two courts for 2 hours, the membership soon grew to using 4 courts plus one court in the gym and operating for two sessions.
Chris Law joined in 1984 and took responsibility for the senior group, leaving Ken Manchip with the intermediate group. Dave Croft joined to assist Ken in 1986 and stayed for 10 years.
Sue Davey joined in 1986 and took responsibility for the first group of /under 13 and now looks afetr the intermediate group.
Graham Cross joined as a parent assistant in 1990 and took over the the senior group when Chris Law left.
Andy Fox joined in 2008 and is now lead coach for the beginners group
Ken Manchip having started the club in 1988 and taking on a variety of roles within the club including head coach and chairman, has now stepped back after helping hundreds of children to play badminton.
