Good sport is about a positive attitude. You can set the right tone, and help make the game a success. Play your part – play fair.

The Fair Play Promise For Players

  1. Play by the rules.
  2. Never argue with a coach, official or volunteer.
  3. Work hard to do my best at all times.
  4. Be a good sport and recognise good players and good plays by all involved.
  5. Remember to thank my coach, the officials, the opposition and supporters.
  6. Help others in my team when I can.
  7. Never put people down or bully them.
  8. Ensure all players right to stay safe.

The Fair Play Promise For Parents

  1. Encourage my child, and other people’s children, in their efforts in sport.
  2. Insist that my child plays within the rules and by the principles of Fair-play.
  3. Respect my child’s efforts the same regardless of whether he/she has won or lost.
  4. Display self-control on the sideline. Always be positive. Never shout at or ridicule players.
  5. Watch my child play and let him/her enjoy the game.
  6. Show my appreciation to people who volunteer their time so my child can play.
  7. Remember that my child plays sport for his/her reasons not mine.
  8. Be a positive role model for my child.
  9. Never place undue pressure on my child to play or perform.
  10. Make an effort to understand the rules of the game.
  11. Ensure all players’ right to stay safe.

The Fair Play Promise For Coaches

  1. Set personal behaviour standards for myself and those I coach to follow.
  2. Give each player the same amount of my attention and time.
  3. Provide every player with the same opportunities to play the game.
  4. Never argue with the umpire, encourage cheating or make excuses for losing.
  5. Always be positive. Never shout at or ridicule players.
  6. Respect players’ efforts regardless of whether they have won or lost.
  7. Encourage respect for the opposition and officials.
  8. Keep winning and losing in perspective with personal challenge and enjoyment.
  9. Ensure all players’ right to stay safe.
